Sharon De Smit, counsellor in West Sussex

About Me

Hello, I am Sharon, a dedicated, compassionate counsellor and psychotherapist based in Storrington, West Sussex.

My counselling practice is dedicated to providing compassionate and effective support to help you overcome challenges and achieve personal growth. With years’ of experience, I have made it my mission to provide a safe, non-judgmental space for individuals to explore their thoughts, emotions and experiences, to work towards personal growth and healing. By focusing on creating a strong therapeutic alliance and using evidence-based techniques, I aim to empower you on your journey to mental wellness.

I have always been passionate about helping others navigate life's challenges and find their inner strength. This passion led me to pursue a career in counselling and psychotherapy, where I felt I could make a positive impact on the lives of those who seek my support.

Throughout my career, I have worked with a diverse range of clients, each with their unique stories and challenges. I have vast experience in assisting with trauma, sexual abuse, child sexual exploitation (CSE), relationship problems, depression, anxiety and more.

My goal is to create a warm, empathetic, and non-judgmental environment where you feel supported and understood. Together we will work collaboratively to overcome challenges and achieve your goals. I believe strongly in the power of the therapeutic relationship and strive to build a strong, trusting connection with each of my clients.

I am here to help you work through your experiences and develop healthy coping mechanisms. By exploring your past and understanding how it has shaped your present, we can work together to break free from negative patterns and learn to identify and manage triggers. Your well-being is my top priority. I am committed to supporting you both during and between our sessions.

If you are beginning your journey to become a counsellor, regardless of your current level of year, I offer comprehensive listening skills training practise for all student counsellors. For more details on my training programme and how they can help you build confidence and competence as a counsellor, please visit the Counselling in Action section on my website.
