At Counselling and Psychotherapy in West Sussex and Online, I understand that taking the first step towards seeking help can be daunting. That's why I offer a free 10-20 minute introductory phone call to all new clients. This call provides an opportunity for you to discuss your needs, ask any questions you may have about the counselling process, and determine whether we are a good fit for working together.
During the initial consultation, I will listen to your concerns with empathy and without judgment. We will discuss your goals for therapy and explore how I can best support you on your journey towards healing and personal growth. This consultation is also an opportunity for you to get a sense of my therapeutic approach and style, ensuring that you feel comfortable and confident in our partnership.
I work in a Humanistic Integrative way with a Pluralistic approach, drawing upon various therapeutic modalities such as Psychodynamic, Person-Centred, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Gestalt Therapy. This allows me to adapt my approach to best suit your unique needs and preferences.
My aim is to create a warm, empathetic, and non-judgmental environment where you feel supported and understood. Together, we will work collaboratively to explore your experiences, thoughts, and feelings, and develop strategies to help you overcome challenges and achieve your goals. I believe in the power of the therapeutic relationship, and I strive to build a strong, trusting connection with each of my clients.
Trauma often underpins many of the issues that bring people to counselling and psychotherapy. Our childhood experiences can have a profound impact on how we feel and function as adults. Trauma can manifest in various ways, such as anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, substance abuse, and more.
I can help you work through your experiences and develop healthy coping mechanisms. By exploring your past and understanding how it has shaped your present, we can work together to break free from the invisible tethers that may be holding you back. Through a trauma-informed approach, I aim to create a safe, supportive space where you can process your experiences, heal, and grow.

I offer both short and long-term therapy to accommodate your unique needs. During our initial session, we will discuss the anticipated duration of our work together and establish a plan that aligns with your goals. To ensure that you are making progress and receiving the support you need, we will review your therapy every six sessions. In most cases, the end of our therapeutic relationship will come about naturally and by mutual agreement as you achieve your goals and feel ready to conclude our sessions.
However, I understand that circumstances can change, and you have the right to end therapy at any time. If you decide to terminate our work together, I kindly request two weeks' notice. This allows us to address any unresolved issues and end our therapeutic relationship in a safe, supportive manner.
Remember, your well-being is my top priority, and I am here to support you both during and between our sessions. Don't hesitate to reach out for help when you need it, and know that there are always resources available to assist you in times of crisis.
Counselling and psychotherapy are often used interchangeably, as they both involve talking therapies. However, counselling often focuses on specific issues and is typically shorter-term, while psychotherapy tends to be longer-term and addresses more deep-rooted issues.
All sessions are 50-60 minutes.
The frequency of sessions can vary depending on your individual needs and goals. Typically, sessions are held weekly, but we can discuss a schedule that works best for you.
The number of sessions required can vary greatly depending on your unique situation and goals. Some people may find that a few sessions are sufficient, while others may benefit from longer-term therapy. We will work together to determine the best course of action for you.
Confidentiality is a fundamental principle of counselling and psychotherapy. Everything you share in our sessions is strictly confidential, with a few exceptions, such as if there is a risk of harm to yourself or others. I adhere to the ethical guidelines set by professional bodies, such as the BACP and NCPS, to ensure your privacy and confidentiality
The therapeutic relationship is essential for successful therapy. If, at any point, you feel uncomfortable or feel that we are not a good fit, I encourage you to discuss this with me. We can work together to address your concerns or, if necessary, I can help you find a therapist who may be a better match for you.
Yes, I offer both online and telephone counselling in addition to in-person sessions. Online counselling is conducted through a secure, confidential platform, while telephone counselling allows you to access support from the comfort of your own space.
If you are struggling with emotional or mental health issues, or if you feel stuck and unsure of how to move forward, counselling and psychotherapy can be incredibly beneficial. If you are unsure, I invite you to schedule a free 10-20 minute introductory phone call with me to discuss your concerns and explore how therapy can help.
